How It Works
1. Upload Your Image
Drop any JPG, PNG, or WebP image. The tool supports images up to 10MB with resolutions up to 4000×4000px.
2. Smart Upscaling & Enhancement
We use stepped bicubic interpolation for cleaner results than single-step scaling, followed by unsharp mask sharpening and optional denoising.
3. Download HD Result
Get your upscaled image in PNG, JPEG, or WebP format. Ready for printing, web use, or further editing.
Why Use Our Image Upscaler
⭐ 2×, 3×, 4× Upscaling
Scale your images by any factor from 2x to 4x. Each step uses high-quality bicubic interpolation with optimal smoothing for cleaner results.
💡 Smart Stepped Scaling
Instead of one giant jump, we scale in multiple smaller steps. Each intermediate step interpolates a shorter distance, producing noticeably sharper enlargements.
⛽ Unsharp Mask Sharpening
Control the sharpness, radius, and threshold of our unsharp mask filter. Bring out detail that gets softened during upscaling.
📈 Denoise Filter
Reduce noise and artifacts before upscaling with a lightweight median filter. Clean input = cleaner output at higher scales.
📄 Multiple Output Formats
Download as PNG (lossless, transparent), JPEG (adjustable quality), or WebP (best compression). Optimize for your specific use case.
🔒 100% Private
All processing uses the Canvas API directly in your browser. Zero image data leaves your computer. No servers, no uploads, no storage.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this actual AI upscaling?
▾
No — our current upscaler uses advanced bicubic interpolation with stepped scaling and unsharp mask enhancement. This produces excellent results for most images, especially photos and graphics. We are working on neural network upscaling (Real-ESRGAN) as a coming-soon feature. For most use cases, bicubic + sharpening matches or exceeds the visual quality of basic AI upscalers.
What's the maximum output resolution?
▾
The output is capped at 4096×4096 pixels to stay within browser canvas limits. If your input multiplied by the scale factor would exceed this, we automatically cap the result. For example, a 2000×2000 image at 4x would be capped to 4096×4096 instead of 8000×8000.
What's the difference between 2x, 3x, and 4x?
▾
2x doubles each dimension (4x the pixels), 3x triples each dimension (9x the pixels), and 4x quadruples each dimension (16x the pixels). We recommend 2x for the best balance of quality and file size. Use 4x when you need maximum enlargement for large prints.
What is unsharp mask?
▾
Unsharp mask is a classic image sharpening technique. It creates a blurred copy of the image, subtracts it from the original to find the edges, and then amplifies those edges. Despite its name, it actually sharpens the image. You can control the amount (0-100%), radius (0.5-5px), and we handle the threshold automatically.
What file formats can I download?
▾
PNG (lossless, supports transparency, largest file size), JPEG (adjustable quality 50-100%, good for photos), and WebP (excellent compression, modern format supported by most browsers). For archival quality, choose PNG. For social sharing, JPEG at 90% is ideal. For web use, WebP offers the best file size.
